You need to check for spark at the coil hv wire. If these are good then the points and or condensor is bad. The coil primary winding consists of more than 100 turns of insulated heavy copper wire. It cranks and may do a little cough while still in the start position but does not fire.
Note the resistance reading on the ohmmeter. Move the test lead from the negative post on the coil to the center terminal where the large wire was removed.
